Kapkatet Stadium Undergoing Major Rehabilitation Works

Despite its historic and cultural significance to the people of Kericho, Kapkatet Stadium has endured years of neglect and stalled development.

The facility is now undergoing major rehabilitation works supervised by the Ministry of Defence, with the project having recently commenced.

According to Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo, Kapkatet Stadium is being transformed into a modern 10,000-seater facility, featuring a standard football pitch, tartan athletics track, permanent seating, floodlights, a Teflon canopy, VIP lounges and digital/ICT facilities.

PS Omollo noted that the upgraded facility will create a platform for talent identification and development while supporting community events, recreation and youth engagement, giving local talent a place to grow and communities a space to come together.

The project complements the Government’s wider investment in sports infrastructure as a tool for opportunity, community cohesion and social stability,” he said.

He further said the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to support initiatives that strengthen safe, inclusive and cohesive communities.
