Nandi County has taken a giant step forward in healthcare development with the groundbreaking ceremony for a major expansion of Kapsabet County Referral Hospital.

The event, attended by prominent national and county leaders, officially commenced construction of a cutting-edge two-storey hospital block designed to greatly enhance medical services for the region.

Leading the ceremony were Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang.

The new addition will increase the hospital’s capacity by 250 beds, representing a significant boost to local healthcare infrastructure.

This modern facility will include three advanced operating theatres, a fully-equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and a High Dependency Unit (HDU). It will also feature expanded clinical consultation rooms, specialised outpatient clinics, and dedicated wards for patients.

The project directly addresses the rising need for high-quality, specialised healthcare in Nandi, aiming to improve service delivery, reduce the need for referrals outside the county, and ultimately save more lives.

Governor Sang described the initiative as a transformational milestone for the county’s health sector.

He also expressed heartfelt appreciation to President Dr William Samoei Ruto and the national government for their steadfast support in empowering devolved healthcare systems.

This development truly reflects our shared dedication to enhancing the health and welfare of Nandi’s people,” the governor emphasised.

The ceremony brought together an impressive group of leaders, highlighting the project’s importance.

It came on the same day as the launch of construction for the ultra-modern Kichoge Keino Stadium in Kapsabet.
