The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, held a public participation forum with Kaptagat ward residents for the 2024/25 Finance Bill And Budget Proposals.
During the exercise, locals raised several issues.
Among the key concerns of residents included the completion of all ongoing projects and proper utilisation of the 40 per cent money allocated to each ward in the County.
The residents also proposed an allocation of Shs 70 million for the construction of an Asphalt processing plant in Uasin Gishu, the elevation of one health facility in every Ward, enhanced water supply and expanding electricity supply in rural areas.

The forum led by the County Executive for Roads, Eng. Joseph Lagat sought to capture views from the public on key areas for consideration in the entire budget-making process, service delivery and priority projects to be factored in the upcoming development initiatives by Governor Dr.Jonathan Bii-led administration.
ICT services in rural areas
While supporting the bill, the residents said it was fair, expressing the importance of paying taxes for better services.
They also proposed enhanced ICT services in rural areas for job creation as well as the rollout of programs that will promote farmers’ activities and economic prosperity.
“We will fast-track the implementation of ongoing projects as per the proposals and recommendations you have given us. As an administration, we want to eventually have projects that will improve livelihoods as purposed in the annual development plan,” CECM Eng. Lagat stated.

The forum was held at the Kaptagat Ward Office in Naiberi.
It was also attended by Clinton Munai (Ward Project Identification Committee Chairman), Jonathan Koech (Ward Assistant), Elijah Bett(County Senior Revenue Officer and Eliud Kipyego (area MCAs representative), Haron Kiprotich(Water Engineer Ainabkoi Sub County), among others.
