The Kenya Seed Company has assured farmers of adequate seed supply ahead of the long rains planting season.
Company’s Managing Director Sammy Chepsiror said they have sufficient stocks of certified maize seeds, wheat and other crop seeds across its distribution network countrywide.
Availability of the seeds, Chepsiror said, signals stability in the agricultural inputs market amid growing demand.

Are there enough maize seeds in Kenya?
Speaking at the Kenya Seed Golf Tournament held at Eldoret Golf Club over the weekend, Sammy Chepsiror said the firm has sufficient stocks of certified maize.
“We have enough stock of seeds, including maize and wheat, among others. All our seeds are available in stores and ready for farmers,” he said.
The assurance comes at a time when farmers are preparing their land following improved weather conditions in key grain-growing regions.
Chepsiror also urged growers to take advantage of the conducive farming environment and return to full-scale production.
He spoke at the Kenya Seed Golf Tournament held at Eldoret Golf Club over the weekend.
The tournament provided a platform for the company to engage directly with farmers who double up as corporate leaders and agribusiness investors.
“We are here to meet golfers who are farmers, communicate with them and strengthen our relationship, as they are our customers and leaders,” he noted.
When was Kenya Seed Company established?
The seed manufacturer, established in 1956, has remained a dominant player in the certified seed market, supplying maize, wheat and other crop varieties suited for different agro-ecological zones.

MD Chepsiror thanked farmers, seed producers and distributors for supporting the company since its inception, terming them critical partners in safeguarding national food security.
He also warned traders against distributing counterfeit seeds, saying authorities are on high alert to protect farmers from losses.
“Farmers should only buy certified seeds from authorised dealers,” he cautioned.
The Kenya Seed Company boss also challenged farmers in the North Rift region to visit their stands at the Eldoret Agriculture Society of Kenya (ASK) show, where they will have an opportunity to engage experts on various issues, including the right seeds for their farms.
Eldoret ASK show is slated to run from Wednesday, March 6, to Sunday, March 9, 2026.
