Deputy President William Ruto has started a 12-day tour to the United States of America and the United Kingdom.
Ruto arrived in Washington DC early on Monday, February 28, 2022.
“Arrived safely in Washington, D.C. for a series of meetings,” he posted on his official Twitter handle.
A number of politicians and technocrats are accompanying the DP for his first tour to the two countries since he was elected the country’s second in command – in 2013.
The DP is also scheduled for a visit to Qatar.
“This is to inform you that the following officers listed here below will accompany His Excellency the Deputy President to the United States of America from Sunday 27th February to Saturday, 5th March 2022, the United Kingdom, from Saturday 5th to Tuesday, March 8th, 2022, and then proceed to Qatar from Tuesday 8th to Friday 11th March 2022,” read part of a letter addressed to Principal Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
While in Washington DC, the DP is scheduled to meet, among others, officials of the State Department and the Pentagon as well as the US Government National Security Council (NSC) Advisor.
He is also expected to meet Kenyans in the diaspora.
