Lawyers from the Kitale region have supported the dialogue between the Executive, the Judiciary and the legislature held on Monday at the State House.
Speaking to the press, Kitale branch Law Society of Kenya (LSK) chairperson Walter Wanyonyi said the talks will not interfere with the independence of the Judiciary.
Wanyonyi further said the dialogue between the three arms of government is meant to address issues of corruption in the Judiciary that were raised by President William Ruto and other Kenya Kwanza leaders.
LSK Kitale branch brings together lawyers practising at the Kitale, Kapenguria and Lodwar law courts.
“The doctrine of separation of powers allows the three arms of government to be independent but work interdependently. As a society we do not find any fault in the talks, it is meant to achieve common good,” Wanyonyi said.
LSK Kitale branch defends Ruto
The LSK official who is also an advocate of the High Court further defended President William Ruto and his administration.

“The President consumes intelligence reports daily. He must have been briefed properly by the National Intelligence Service that some judicial officers are corrupt and he chose to deal with it head-on,” he added.
In addition, the society said the Supreme Court’s Thursday decision to bar Senior Council Ahmed Ahmednasir Abdullahi from practising in the apex court is unlawful.
Wanyonyi said Abdullahi is a victim of the sustained attack on the Judiciary by the Executive.
“The Supreme Court does not have any legal authority to ban any licensed lawyer from practising law and therefore the ban is unlawful. It is also not fair that the Council’s right to be heard was violated,” noted the Kitale branch LSK chairperson.
He stated that the apex court would have filed a complaint against Ahmednasir at the Law Society of Kenya for necessary disciplinary action.
Ahmednasir moves to East African Court of Justice
The Supreme Court accused Abdullahi famously known as Grand Mullah of scandalizing the court.

In a letter signed by Supreme Court Registrar Muthoni Wachira addressed to the Council, he said to have relentlessly and unabashedly conducted a campaign in the media aimed at scandalizing, ridiculing and outrightly denigrating the court.
Ahmednasir Abdullahi has since challenged the Supreme Court ban at the East African Court of Justice.
