The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has invited journalism and communication students to apply for its upcoming industrial attachment programme scheduled for May to July 2026.
In a public call, the Council said the initiative, run in collaboration with recognised media houses, is aimed at equipping students with hands-on experience before they graduate.
“The programme is designed to provide journalism and communication students with practical work experience before graduation and to prepare them for the job market,” the notice reads.
The three-month attachment will run from May to July 2026, targeting students pursuing degrees or diplomas in Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, Digital Communication, or Corporate Communication.
According to MCK, successful applicants will be placed in media and communication outlets across the country in areas such as print, broadcast, technical production, and digital content creation.

“Successful applicants will be placed in recognised media and communication outlets across the country,” the Council stated, outlining opportunities in “Print, Broadcast (Radio/Television), Technical/Production and Digital Content Creation.”
Requirements to apply for MCK industrial attachment
Applicants must meet several requirements, including being final-year students, providing a recent recommendation letter from their institution, submitting academic transcripts, and holding valid student identification.
Additionally, candidates are required to present “a mandatory sample of journalistic work (this may include published online content, school projects, etc.)” and possess a valid 2026 MCK Student Press Card.
Applications are to be submitted through the MCK online portal, with the Council directing candidates to use the subject line “Industrial Attachment Application – May–July 2026.”

MCK also cautioned applicants against fraud, noting that it “does not solicit payments or recruit through agents or agencies.”
