The University of Eldoret is celebrating after one of its educationists was recognised with a global honorary award.
According to a statement from the UOE’s Vice Chancellor Prof Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot, the don, Professor Miriam Kinyua, has been recognised as a finalist for the 2025 Women in Nuclear (WiN) Global Honorary Award.
The VC, in a statement, said Prof. Kinyua’s work in agricultural biotechnology, especially the use of nuclear techniques to develop improved crop varieties, has played a vital role in advancing food security and sustainable development in Kenya and across the region.
“Her efforts in research, capacity building, and mentorship have inspired many within and beyond the University,” Prof Cheruiyot said.
“Professor Kinyua’s contributions reflect the spirit of innovation and academic excellence that define our University,” he added.

The WiN Global Honorary Award is a prestigious international accolade that honours individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology, while promoting education, mentorship, and gender equality in the nuclear field.
