Moi University has officially handed over the site for the first phase of the Affordable Housing Project at the Annex Campus.
This paves the way for the construction of modern student accommodation designed to improve safety affordability and campus life.
How many housing units will be built at Moi University’s Annex campus?
The first phase will deliver 1,260 housing units dedicated exclusively to students. This development responds to the absence of on campus accommodation at the Annex Campus which has forced students to rely on external housing often at higher cost and risk.
The project is expected to significantly enhance the student experience by providing secure and accessible living spaces within the campus.

Speaking during the site handover ceremony the acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kiplagat Kotut said the first phase reflects the University’s commitment to practical solutions that directly address student needs.
He noted that improved housing is central to academic focus wellbeing and institutional stability.
In addition, the acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration Planning and Strategy Prof. Loice Maru said the decision to begin with students was deliberate and aligned with the University’s long term development strategy.
She also emphasized that student centered planning remains a key pillar of Moi University’s growth agenda.
Who is in charge of Affordable Housing Project at Moi University?
The project is being implemented in partnership with the State Department for Housing and Urban Development in line with the National Government’s Affordable Housing agenda.

The University also acknowledged the support of Julius K. Rutto Member of Parliament for Kesses Constituency for championing the initiative.
While the first phase focuses on students the University plans to roll out subsequent phases to include staff housing using available land at both the Annex and Main campuses to support sustainable expansion.
As the site is handed over to consultants and contractors Moi University has underscored the importance of quality workmanship adherence to timelines and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
The first phase of the Affordable Housing Project positions Moi University as a student focused institution committed to quality education supportive infrastructure and a competitive campus environment.
