The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) has received post-abortion equipment from IPAS Africa Alliance Company.
Equipment received includes a Gynecological Procedure Couch, an Electric Vacuum Aspirator, a Portable Electric lamp, a Dilatation and Evacuation Set, as well as 5 Manual Vacuum Aspiration Kits.
The equipment will scale up the Hospital’s reproductive health care, which includes providing top-notch services to patients who require post Arbotal care.
Speaking shortly after receiving the equipment, the Chief Executive Officer Dr. Wilson Aruasa hailed the collaboration between MTRH and IPAS.
He described the relationship as mutually-beneficial and said he was looking forward to the extension and expansion of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to make MTRH a Regional Centre of Excellence in training, provision of post abortal services, and contraception.
MTRH and IPAS have been collaborating for over 18 years in an effort to reduce maternal mortality from unsafe and incomplete miscarriages.
Over the years, the collaboration has seen over 250 health care providers trained on quality post abortal care and value clarification.
The engagement has also led to the renovation of the Gynecological Ward.
IPAS Africa Alliance Director, Dr. Angela Akol, noted that they value its partnership, acknowledging that MTRH is a Centre of Excellence in Quality Healthcare provision.
