Musalia Mudavadi Heads to Moscow for Russia-Africa Summit

Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, has departed for Moscow, Russia, to represent Kenya at the Third Russia-Africa Summit and the accompanying Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum scheduled for October 28-30.

According to a statement from the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, the summit will bring together leaders and senior government representatives from Russia and African countries to discuss political cooperation, international peace and security, economic development, and ways to strengthen Russia-Africa relations.

Mudavadi is expected to hold bilateral talks with Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov on the state of Kenya-Russia relations, regional and international developments, and opportunities to deepen economic and political cooperation.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary will also meet counterparts from participating countries on the sidelines of the forum as Kenya seeks to strengthen existing partnerships, explore new areas of collaboration, and advance its international priorities.

Kenya will use the summit to pursue increased access to the Russian market for key exports, including tea, coffee, and horticultural produce. The country will also seek to attract investment in priority sectors such as agriculture, energy, manufacturing, science, and technology.
