Governor Jonathan Bii’s roads revolution is more than just grading and gravelling — it is transforming livelihoods, connecting farmers to markets, opening Uasin Gishu for business, bridging communities and unlocking economic growth.
Since taking office, Governor Bii — through Pillar Six of his Nguzo Kumi agenda on Infrastructure Development — has registered a breakthrough: grading 4,347 kilometres of roads, gravelling over 1,200 kilometres, and completing over 30 bridges and box culverts across the county.
Road projects Governor Bii’s administration has completed
Among the completed major projects are the Ketiplong-Bindura Box Culvert in Tulwet/Chuiyat Ward, Kesses Sub-County; Koisagat-Kapsabul Bridge in Segero/Barsombe Ward, Turbo Sub-County; Biseria-Kipkaren Box Culvert in Olare, Ainabkoi Ward; Kaoni Box Culvert in Kaptagat Ward; Mau-Kipkaren-Pioneer Box Culvert in Kipkenyo Ward; Seet-Ngara Falls Box Culvert in Ngeria; Eldo-Birmingham Box Culvert in Langas; Saroiyot Footbridge in Cheptiret/Kipchamo Ward; and the Kipsano-Cheptabach Footbridge at the border of Megun and Cheptiret/Kipchamo wards — which had stalled for over seven years.

Others include Tumoge Box Culvert in Tulwet/Chuiyat Ward, Bayete-Kabiemit Box Culvert in Tarakwa, Kapkalacha Box Culvert in Tembelio, Kapkures-Kipsomba Box Culvert at the border of Kapkures and Kipsomba wards, Barsombe-St. Peters Box Culvert in Segero/Barsombe Ward, Emgwen-Tanzania Farm (Buwemba) Box Culvert in Kiplombe Ward, Tarus-Murgusi Bridge in Ng’enyilel Ward, Joyland-Africana Box Culvert, Bridge-Kapsaos Box Culvert, RCEA Lamaiywet-Kapkoros Road Box Culvert, St. James Primary Road Box Culvert and Katanin-Daima Estate Box Culvert — all in Kapsaos Ward — as well as Kenduiywo-Jeremiah and Cheplaskei-Kombaeren Box Culverts in Tapsagoi Ward.
Is Uasin Gishu asphalt processing plant complete?
In another major boost, the county is establishing a new asphalt processing plant in Eldoret City. Governor Bii says the plant is 96 per cent complete and will support his plan to tarmac several kilometres of roads in Eldoret and the six new municipalities of Kesses, Burnt Forest, Mois Bridge, Ziwa, Turbo (Cheramei) and Moiben.
“The plant is expected to improve efficiency, reduce road construction costs by 50 per cent, and produce more durable roads. My administration has also enhanced transportation and pedestrian safety through the installation of traffic lights on major streets,” Governor Bii said.

The plant is provided for in the County Integrated Development Plan 2023–2027 and aligns with Pillar Six of Governor Bii’s manifesto on Infrastructure Development and Public Works.
County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Transport and Public Works, Abraham Serem, said the administration has also decongested Eldoret City with a new bus park serving matatu Saccos plying the Eldoret-Langas and other eastern routes, alongside the renovation of the Iten-Chepkoilel bus park.
Beyond roads, Chief Officer for Roads, Geoffrey Tanui, said the county has upgraded the Fire and Rescue Department with the commissioning of two 16,000-litre water bowsers capable of drawing water from open sources.
