Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has challenged county staff to be ready to adhere to the freshness that his leadership is bringing on board.
Natembeye was last Thursday sworn into office as the second governor of the county.
And to formally start his tenure, the former Rift Valley regional commissioner on Monday, August 29, 2022, checked into his office at 7.00 am.
This was almost an hour before the official time that public servants are usually expected to be in their respective work offices.

But even as he started his day early in the morning, Natembeya reminded workers that will be under him that public service is never a compulsory job hence it needs maximum dedication.
He affirmed that under his leadership, the needs of the people will always be put ahead of the county staff.
“Today I have checked in my office at exactly 7.00am. I believe and hope all county workers are going to adhere to the freshness ushered in,” Natembeya said.
“It worthy noting county work is not compulsory hence when given privilege to serve, we expect utmost dedication. Kazi imeanza, mwananchi mbele mfanyikazi nyuma,” he added.
Service delivery
Later in the day, the county boss held a meeting with the County Public Service Board.

During the meeting, Natembeya said it was agreed on the need to enhance service delivery.
“This morning have had consultative meeting with Trans Nzoia Public Service Board members, lead by Chairperson Mr Peter Wamoto. I was briefed about wellbeing of staffs and county progress on development,we agreed on fast tracking method to ensure We are timely in service delivery,” the governor said.
In the just-conluded general election, the former regional commissioner brushed off strong competition from his main rival outgoing Kiminini Member of Parliament Chris Wamalwa to win the seat.
He was vying on a Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) ticket while Wamalwa was the Ford Kenya candidate.
