The County Government of Uasin Gishu is set for a big boom in its efforts to transform and upgrade roads to bitumen standards.
The upgrade will inject efficiency in infrastructure development across the county.
Uasin Gishu County Governor Dr Jonathan Bii, accompanied by County Executive Committee Member for Roads Abraham Serem and Chief Officer Geoffrey Tanui, inspected the ongoing installation of the new asphalt plant in Eldoret.

Dr Bii noted that besides ensuring uninterrupted supply of asphalt, the plant will also considerably help the county to cut down on road construction expenses by up to 50 percent.
“The funds that we spare from cutting down on road expenses coming as a result of this asphalt plant can then be redirected to other development projects, thereby being an advantage to the residents of Uasin Gishu,” said the Governor.
The project is also expected to stimulate local economic activities by creating employment opportunities in plant operations, construction, and maintenance.
