North Rift Muslim Leaders Welcome Donald Trump’s Stand on LGBTQ+

A section of Muslim leaders in the North Rift leaders has hailed newly sworn-in United States President Donald Trump’s bold stand against LGBTQ+.

Trump’s first action after taking an oath of office as the 47th US president was to sign an executive order affirming that his administration would only recognize two genders – Male and Female.

The order repealed a series of legal provisions that were promoting diversity programs and LGBTQ equality.

The clergy, led by the Regional Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) chairperson Sheikh Abubakar Bini, believes this action will finally save the world from the mess created earlier by the Joe Biden administration.

Trump has come to save the world,” Sheikh Bini told Uasin Gishu News on  Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

He went further to challenge other leaders, especially African presidents to openly declare their opposition to any laws encouraging LQBTQ+.

According to Sheikh Bini who doubles up as the deputy director of the Islamic Fatwa Council in Kenya, many African leaders were afraid of speaking against LGBTQ+ for fear of being denied funding.

But with the Trump administration, he hopes the fear will be a thing of the past.

Those that were afraid to speak against this strange practice can now openly share their mind without any fear of missing out on billions of funding from the US. It is time they came out and followed the footsteps of Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni,” said the vocal Muslim leader.

Uganda had passed an anti-LGBTQ law that saw several donors pull out. But despite the sidelining from foreign powers, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni held his ground.
