Oscar Sudi Hands Over Wheelchair to 74-Year-Old Mother Bedridden for Years

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has handed over a wheelchair to Mama Mary Chelabul, 74, of Tuiyo, ending two decades she spent moving on crutches and years being bedridden.

Sudi’s team delivered the wheelchair on Saturday, June 6, 2026, saying it was the request the elderly woman had made “since last year.”

For 20 years she’s moved on crutches, and being bedridden made even simple things hard. Yet she single-handedly raised her children with strength and quiet dignity,” Sudi posted on Facebook.

The legislator said the donation was meant to restore independence for the elderly mother.

This wheelchair won’t change her past, but it will change her days ahead. It gives Mama Mary movement, dignity, and a chance to sit outside and be part of life again,” Sudi said.

Community members in Tuiyo welcomed the intervention, noting that access to mobility aids remains a challenge for many elderly and disabled residents in rural Kapseret.

It will help restore her mobility and give her greater independence in daily life,” he said.

Sudi buys posho mill for man who lost hand in accident

Earlier, the vocal legislator gave a posho million to Timothy Saina from Megu ward. The 48-year-old lost his left hand in a grass-cutting machine accident in 2025, an injury that ended his work as a cattle herder, the job he had relied on for years.

With no income and a family to support, meeting daily needs became difficult.fkf Saina.

I gave him a posho mill because he can no longer do manual labour. The machine will help him cover school fees for his children and fend for his family. It won’t replace his hand, but it gives him a way to earn without relying on others,” Sudi said.
