Uasin Gishu County’s Department of Planning and Urban Development has embarked on a comprehensive 3D model design project aimed at enhancing the city’s urban infrastructure and spatial planning.
Using advanced modelling software and geographic information systems (GIS), the department captured the existing cityscape, including key landmarks, transportation networks, green spaces, recreational parks, and residential areas among other key areas of the City.

“This model representation serves as a powerful tool for urban planners, allowing them to visualize and analyze the impact of potential developments, streamline traffic flow, and optimize land use for sustainable growth,” said the County Executive for Lands, Housing Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Janeth Kosgey.
The Department came up with two master plans, one for the Future Eldoret Smart City and the other for the Eldoret CBD master plan.

The Models have been placed in the reception area at the County Headquarters, in Eldoret Town.
Eldoret is gearing up for an elevation to be Kenya’s fifth city after Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Nakuru.
Last week when he was on a development tour in Uasin Gishu, President William Ruto revealed that he will soon be granting a city charter to Eldoret.

According to the President, the Senate has already approved the Eldoret City status and the matter is now at his desk.
