Governor Bii Meets Roads, Transport and Public Works Team to Strategize For 2024

Uasin Gishu Governor Dr Jonathan Bii, and his deputy Engineer John Barorot on Friday, January 12, 2024, held a meeting with the staff under the Department of Roads, Transport and Public Works.

The meeting fundamentally sought to lay down strategies for the implementation of infrastructural projects for the realization of his 6th Nguzo Kumi agenda, as the department ensures mobility and logistics across all sectors.

Last year the department Roads in Uasin Gishu was ranked second best performing in the country in the implementation of road projects under the devolved units.

Further, the Auditor General report ranked Uasin Gishu County number three in proper utilization of public resources during the 2022/23 financial year.

Quality delivery of projects

As we work to deliver quality projects to the residents of Uasin Gish, I would like to see all staff motivated. Every one of you should know that they matter,” Governor Bii told the team.

The County head together with his deputy thanked the team for their dedication adding that other counties are keenly watching the performance of Uasin Gishu following previous reports of success and quality delivery of projects in Uasin Gishu.

They urged staff to continue working hard and as a team across all departments to maintain good ratings in 2024.

The Department of Roads also achieved grading of over 800km of roads. This year, the Eng Joseph Lagat-led department looks to attain the over 1000km target.

Those present during the meeting were County Secretary Edwin Bett, CECMs Eng. Joseph Lagat(Roads), Micah Rogony(Finance), Chief of Staff Nicholas Chepkwony, Chief Officers Eliud Chemaget(Finance), Elijah Koech(Water), Eng Abraham Kiptalam(Roads) and Ambrose Tarus (PSM), Directors among other top county officials.
