Operations at Raiplly company in Eldoret were on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, disrupted for the better part of the day after over 200 workers staged a protest.
The workers who camped outside the company’s main gate along the Eldoret-Malaba Highway demanded for the full payment of their two-month salary arrears they claim amount to over Ksh 40 million.
They also accused Raiply management of failing to adhere to an agreement over timely payment of their salaries.
According to the workers, the company had committed to paying them salaries by the 29th of every month.

“It’s a sad state of affairs because we have toiled for two months without salary,” said one of the protesting workers.
They further wondered why the company owner was investing millions in other sectors while he has failed to pay their salaries.
According to the workers, Raiply owner is among those who recently secured a 30-year-lease of one of the government-owned sugar factories.
They however vowed to continue pushing for their rights.
During the protests, none of the workers was allowed into the company.
Company top officials could also not be reached for a comment over the matter.
Kiplombe Member of County Assembly (MCA) Gilbert Lagat who joined the workers during the protests demanded that the company must meet it’s obligation of timely payment of salaries.

Raiply focuses on wood processing and manufacturing, including producing plywood and veneer boards.
The company is owned by the Rai family which engage in other businesses, such as the sugar industry.
Recently, one of the family members, Jaswant Rai secured lease of Nzoia Sugar.
