Reuben Kigame Responds to Critics who Say Politics Will Derail His Gospel Calling

2027 presidential aspirant Reuben Kigame has told off critics who argue that his involvement in politics will derail his gospel calling.

Addressing congregants at Friends Church (Quakers) in Lang’ata, Nairobi, during the 2025 Ebenezer Conference, Kigame, a veteran gospel singer said despite his political ambitions, he will not abandon singing.

Walisema nitasahau kuimba kwa sababu niko kwa siasa. Nawaambia: sianguki ng’o. (They said I will forget signing because I’m in politics. Let me tell them, I won’t fall),” he said.

The musician also challenged the youth to fill their hearts, thoughts, and speech with God’s Word.

Referencing his song “Lipo Tumaini”, Dr. Kigame also encouraged young people to remain hopeful, no matter the challenges they face.

His message was one of perseverance, faith, and the transformative power of godly leadership.

Hakuna kitu kitabadilisha nchi yetu isipokuwa mioyo ya binadamu. Nyimbo ziingie State House. Serikali ijae watu wanaogopa na kumuenzi Mungu (Nothing will change our country if not hearts of the people. Songs have to enter the State House . The government should be full of God-fearing people),” the presidential aspirant said.

Church leaders present at the event emphasized that Kenya is in dire need of leaders who fear God and uphold righteousness—and that Dr. Kigame exemplifies these qualities.

Church leaders expressed the need to support a God-fearing leaders, in reference to Reuben Kigame’s presidential bid.

In a passionate sermon, Senior Pastor Harris Alichura underscored the urgency for righteous leadership in Kenya, referencing the nation’s moral and political state.

Wakati umefika wa mwenye haki kuongoza nchi yetu. Mimi kura yangu ni ya ndugu Reuben,” Alichura declared, urging congregants to rally behind Kigame’s vision for the country.

Drawing from Psalm 100:1–5, the pastor called on believers to give thanks to God rather than focus on complaining about national issues.

He emphasized that true change must begin with reverence for God and personal righteousness.
