Saboti MP Caleb Amisi Faults President William Ruto’s Foreign Policy

Saboti Constituency Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has called on President William Ruto to review his administration’s foreign policy.

Speaking at Lukhuna cattle dip on Friday, February 28, 2025, during the launch of issuance of National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) bursary, Amisi faulted Ruto for meddling with affairs of other countries.

He has not resolved our local issues and he wants to resolve issues beyond him. So we want the foreign policy of Kenya reviewed because we have spoiled our geopolitical standing. The Kenyan hegemonic position in East Africa is now on the lowest,” the legislator said.

Ruto’s approach in DRC, Sudan crisis faulted

Amisi further said Ruto erred in his bipartisan approach to the ongoing conflict between the M23 and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) troops in Eastern DRC.

The tough-talking legislator who sits in the National Assembly Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relationships committee also said allowing the Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to form a parallel government has serious diplomatic implications.

Foreign affairs matters are very sensitive. It was very bad for Ruto to meddle with the war in Eastern DRC as well as allowing RSF rebels to hold their meeting here in Kenya That is declaration of war between Kenya and Sudan,” the MP said.

The second-term lawmaker and a loyal foot soldier of ODM leader Raila Odinga expressed his dissatisfaction with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

All the blunders and missteps we are seeing is because the person at the helm of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not concerned. We need somebody who can steer that ministry to the next level,” Amisi added.

On matters education, the MP took a swipe at Kenya Kwanza administration for delays in disbursement of capitation funds to schools.

He also urged Kenyans not to accept invalidation of NG-CDF stating that many vulnerable children are benefiting from the kitty.

Our courts ruled that NG-CDF is unconstitutional and thatnit should cease to exist from July 1, 2026. Do you support that?” he asked and the locals responded in dissent.

Amisi and his team distributed the bursary forms in all the 52 polling centers within the vast Saboti Constituency in Trans Nzoia County.
