Three More Eldoret Urban Settlements to Benefit from KISIP Funding

Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim has reiterated his commitment to work with Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Programme (KISIP) in a bid to improve the Urban Settlements in Uasin Gishu County with a focus on infrastructure developments and Land tenure security.

While hosting the KISIP National team who are in the county to ascertain the preparedness on the programme, Chelilim appreciated the funding that has been approved for Uasin Gishu County that is set to support three Settlements among them Maili Nne,  Mwanzo and Kipkaren.

I recognise the success of KISIP 1 in Uasin Gishu with the recent celebrations we had while handing over 500 titles to residents of Kuinet, Hills School and Maili Nne. This programme has impacted positively wananchi, especially from the Informal Settlements that struggle economically hence with infrastructure developments coming in, it will facilitate re-development and increase the property index value of the parcels and with this,  they can engage in economically viable activities that will empower them,” the governor said.

I appreciate the importance of land tenure security to my people hence request that the programme increases funding in this sector to reach at least four settlement areas,” he said.

Zenah Kirui from KISIP assured that additional funding is due for release to Uasin Gishu.

This, she said, had been prompted by the rapid urbanization and the anticipated city status in Eldoret.
