The National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives has raised serious concerns with the slow progress on the Nandi County Aggregation and Industrial Park progress despite receiving funding from the National Government.
This was evident on Monday, May 4, 2026, when the Committee’s Sub-Committee led by Vice Chairperson Marianne Keitany made a field visit to the site located in Chemase.
“In 2023, the National Government started a joint program with all the 47 Counties to build these County Aggregation Industrial Parks (CAIPs) to promote local businesses and farming through value addition. Nandi County is one of the seventeen pioneer Counties that already received Ksh 250 million from the National Government, we are here to acess the project but we are shocked to see no progress when other Counties are are 80% to 90% of progress on similar projects“, said MP Keitany.

How much was allocated for Nandi County Industrial Park?
In the meeting that also brought together the locals, the Nandi County Chief Executive Officer (CEC) for trade Isiah Keter, the works Contractor and area MCA, it was pointed out that the County Government of Nandi only attempted to budget Ksh 200 million towards the project but it was not clear why the money has not reached the project.
The CEC and the Contractor said the delays on the project are brought by environmental, weather and funding challenges where at some point, the budget was revised to an additional Ksh. 20 million and another Ksh 30 million.
They however said the project was at 30 percent progress but failed to adress the Committee’s concerns on the Ksh 500 million project with additional Ksh 50 million.

“This project began in August 2023, it was to be completed last year but as a Committee of the National Assembly that oversights, we are shocked to learn that Nandi County has not given their money towards the project, the Ksh 200 million you attempted to budget towards the project has never hit the account for operationalization, why?,” Keitany asked.
The Committee termed this a sabotage to Government funds and projects promising to keep a keen eye on the projects progress.
The area MCA called on the Committee to recommend investigating the Contractor and the County Government of Nandi who confirmed to have received Ksh 159 million towards the project but with little progress to show. His sentiments we support by the locals who also shared their frustrations on the progress of the project.
