Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Sunday launched a new initiative aimed at helping vulnerable farmers in all the county’s 25 wards.
Under the program, the county will distribute free seeds and fertilizer to over 100,000 farmers to boost food output.
Speaking during the launch of distribution of the farm inputs, the Governor expressed his commitment to implementing a long-term solution to the issue of food scarcity in the county.

He also expressed hopes that the new program program will help to improve food security and economically empower residents.
According to data from Trans Nzoia County, many farmers in the region struggle to produce enough food due to factors such as poor soil quality and a lack of access to farming inputs.
But by providing free seeds and fertilizer to vulnerable farmers, the Governor hopes to increase food production and enable beneficiaries to produce surplus food for sale.

“This initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the livelihoods of farmers in Trans Nzoia County, as it will help to improve their food security and economic status.” he said.
The Governor’s commitment to addressing these issues is a positive step towards sustainable development in the county and the country at large.
