Trans Nzoia MCAs to Vet 16 Chief Officers Nominated by George Natembeya

The County Assembly of Trans Nzoia has invited 16 nominees for vetting after they were nominated by Governor George Natembeya to serve as Chief Officers in various departments.

The names of the 16 individuals were submitted by Governor Natembeya to the assembly on Monday, May 25, 2026.

A notice indicated that the nominees will appear before the respective sectoral committees for vetting on Thursday and Friday next week.

Who are the new Trans Nzoia Chief Officers?

Among those to be vetted are Charles Barasa for Agriculture and Irrigation, Emmanuel Simiyu for Livestock and Fisheries, Ben Watemba (Economic Planning), Lucy Nyambura (Gender and Social Development), Bernard Madegwa (Accounting Services), Samuel Masika (Performance Management), and Martin Bunyasi for Lands and Housing.

Others are Godfrey Sawenja (Co-operatives), Wilfred Chepkole (Governance), Mark Mulunda (Public Works and Energy), Daniel Masinde (Education), Fred Mangeni (Vocational Training), Hosea Sismat (Youth and Sports), Catherine Kerubo (Tourism), Teresia Cherotich (Trade), and Philip Kaptain (Public Service Management).

The nominated candidates were required to pick up vetting questionnaires from the Office of the Clerk starting Thursday, May 28, 2026.

During the vetting, the nominees will be required to submit their academic certificates, CVs, and official clearance certificates from EACC, DCI, HELB and KRA.

Those holding degrees from foreign countries have been directed to provide recognition letters from the Commission of University Education (CUE).

Members of the public have been asked to submit memoranda on the suitability of the nominees before Wednesday through the Office of the Clerk of the County Assembly of Trans Nzoia.

Which new departments did Natembeya create?

The terms of seven Chief Officers came to an end following the expiry of their contracts two months ago.

In the new alignment, Governor Natembeya created five new departments: Performance Management, Procurement and Accounting Services, Co-operatives, Youth and Sports, and Culture and Talent Management.
