Two police officers are among four people who were on Friday night arrested in Kachibora, Trans Nzoia County.
The arrest came after a security guard manning a nightclub in the area raised the alarm over the suspects’ suspicious behaviour.
A guard at Club 026 alerted police officers who responded and arrested the four people.
Upon interrogation, it was established that two of them (Emmanuel Mwenda and Douglas Waswa) were police officers attached to Kapsoya Police Station in Ainabkoi Constituency, Uasin Gishu County while the other two others (Boniface Osiako and Irine Ntongai) were civilians.
Police say the the four had visited the Pearl Lounge in the wee hours of Saturday morning where they told the guard they were looking for thieves who had stolen some goods in Eldoret.
But the night guard suspected their narrative as they were new in the area and the timing of their visit.
Trans Nzoia County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) Francis Kihara, said the guard directed them to the nearby Club 026 where they went and changed their narrative that they were looking for a musician who was set to perform in that club.
“They gave two sets of stories and the guards manning the two clubs got suspicious and raised alarm and good enough. Our officers responded in good time and arrested them,” Kihara said.
After their arrest, police officers recovered one handcuff without a serial number inside a vehicle they were travelling with.
The four, according to the CCIO also appeared highly intoxicated.
The confiscated handcuff is being held as evidence while the four individuals are in custody. This is even as officers are now investigating their motives.
The four are set to be arraigned in court on Monday.
