Two girls attached to the Eldoret Sports Development Centre (ESPODEC) under15 football club are set to travel to Spain for trials.
The two, Nelious Jebet and Ynah Cheptoo were scouted by the Spain’s Nastic Academy during the recently concluded East Africa Chipukizi Cup hosted by Future Stars Academy in Arusha, Tanzania.
According to ESPODEC coach Maurice Kamau, the two are set to travel to Spain for their trials in January 2024.

Nastic Academy is also home to Kenya’s under 18 national team stars among them former St Anthony’s winger Andrine Kibet.
During the tournament, the Langas-based ESPODEC team bowed out at the quarter finals stage.
They lost their first game 2-0 against Arusha Stars before beating Probono 4-0.
Later in the quarterfinals, ESPODEC team lost 4-5 on penalties to Young Life Stars, also from Tanzania, after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Despite being eliminated from tournament at the knock out stage, coach Kamau says it was a great learning experience.
“For us, it was a successful event for the kids and their exposure. Hopefully we will pick up from where we left,” the ESPODEC coach told Uasin Gishu News on Monday.
“We learnt a lot from other academies that participated in the tournament and others also learnt from us. We will now work on being a well established and known academy not just in Kenya but nationally,” he added.
The tournament attracted over 200 teams from East African country’s among them Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
Teams from Malawi and Zimbabwe also participated.
They competed in various categories among them U17, U15, U13, U11, U9 as well as U7.
