Residents of Uasin Gishu County have been asked to remain patient after heavy rains forced the temporary suspension of ongoing road construction projects in several wards.
County Executive Committee Member for Roads and Infrastructure Abraham Serem and the Chairperson of the Roads Committee in the Uasin Gishu County Assembly, Francis Muya, said some projects — including those being implemented in partnership with the National Youth Service (NYS) — have been affected due to the continued heavy rainfall.
NYS has been undertaking road works across the county.

The partnership targets at least 700km of roads.
Meanwhile, the committee, which also includes Uasin Gishu County Deputy Speaker Sarah Malel and Majority Leader Julius Sang, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing repair of county machines that had previously broken down.
They also welcomed plans to involve private contractors to help accelerate the road rehabilitation programme.
The leaders assured residents of Uasin Gishu that all the projects will resume and continue as planned once the rains subside.
They spoke on Friday, March 6, 2026, during a visit to the county machinery yard in Eldoret City.

Other county officials present during the visit from the department included Chief Officer Geoffrey Tanui, Director Lazarus Sile, and Transport Officer Stanley Kosgey, among others.
