Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea has urged the youths who have cleared high school not to shy off from joining technical training colleges .
According to Kapkea, job opportunities in the country have become very scarce hence the need for the young people to enrol to technical courses that would give them a upper hand for them to earn a living .
Speaking during a graduation ceremony for Mwangiz Beauty College where over 100 students graduated and were awarded with certificates, the deputy governor lamented that over 3,000 recently applied for jobs in the county but only a handful were selected.

Kapkea noted that if the youths embrace technical courses, they can make money and become self reliant instead of tarmacking and looking for white colour jobs.
Are men dominating beauty industry in Kenya?
Echoing his sentiments, Huruma Member of County Assembly Kimani Wanjohi further advised the youths to move with trend and accept change giving an example of men nowadays venturing into female dominated field of beauty.
“These fields pay very well and youths should not feel embarrassed in doing such kind of jobs instead of depending on hand outs,” the MCA said.
Meanwhile, the Director of Mwangiz Beauty and Cosmetology College encouraged the youths to join the beauty industry.
He said he is a role model having ventured into the industry initially dominated by women.

Mwangi said many young men are now joining the beauty industry and are doing quiet well.
“I am encouraged because we receive students from as far as Baringo, Marakwet and Bungoma who come to enrol for various beauty courses,” he said.
