Underprivileged Children at Precious Kids Children’s Home Get Early Christmas Gifts

By Richard Kabaraji

Christmas came early for a group of children mostly found abandoned due to disability after a group of well wishers visited their home and donated food stuffs.

The well-wishers also spent some quality time with the over 150 children.

The underprivileged children are housed at the Precious Kids Children’s Home – a facility for abandoned children living with disabilities in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.

Led by scholar-cum philanthropist Alex Chesosi and Joel Musundi, the well-wishers who annually visit the home generously donated both food and essential non-food items. The donation was aimed at positively impacting the children’s daily lives.

We have a universal call to support those in need since we are all made in the image and likeness of God,” said Alex Chesosi.

Share festive season love

Reflecting on the Christmas theme of spreading love, Joel Musundi, a media consultant, highlighted the motive behind their gesture.

The Christmas season reminds us Christians about the unconditional love of Jesus Christ who commanded us to love one another,” said Musundi

The team urged the government and other stakeholders to step in and assist the institute, which provides refuge to children rejected by society due to various health conditions.

Some of these children were abandoned because of their health conditions, while others were left behind by teenage mothers,” Chesosi explained.

They also challenged Kenyans to embrace the spirit of sharing during the festive season saying not all can afford to meet the financial cost.

As we plan to make merry during this Christmas season, we must also reach out to the less privileged members of the communities we reside in,” he added.

Established by an American missionary, the Precious Kids Children’s Home currently operates with a dedicated workforce of 44 People on 24-hour routine.

Caregivers at the institution stressed the need for assistance in meeting the medical needs of the children, in addition to providing essential food and non-food items.
