The University of Eldoret has formally partnered with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI).
Top officials from the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to guide the partnership.
UoE Vice-Chancellor Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot signed the MOU with Dr. Erick Rutto, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) President.
The MoU was inked in the presence of Dr Kipronoh Ronoh, the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Agriculture, Dr Jonathan Bii Chelilim, the Governor of the County Government of Uasin Gishu, Prof. Elijah Songok, the Acting Director General at Kenya Medical Research Institute and Dr. Ismail Buro Hassan, University of Eldoret Chair of Council.

“The MoU signified the collaboration between the two institutions in industry, research, capacity building, outreach and community development,” UoE said in an update on its website.
The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) is a membership-based trade support institution (TSI) working to protect the commercial and industrial interests of the Kenyan business community.
KNCCI advocates for the creation of a favourable commercial, trade and investment environment that supports enterprise expansion.
The membership of KNCCI constitutes small, micro enterprises (SMSEs), medium and large enterprises.
Areas of collaboration for the UoE-KNCCI partnership
The two institutions will collaborate in among others research, innovation and development, training and capacity building, extension and outreach, as well as consultancy.

Knowledge Management, resource mobilization and Corporate Social Responsibility are other areas of collaboration.
“The collaboration shall cover the broad thematic areas of Value Chain Development and Value Addition, Entrepreneurship and Business Development and Solid and Liquid Waste Management,” the university said.
