Weather Forecast: Kenya Meteorological Department Lists Areas to Experience Rainfall this Week

The Kenya Meteorological Department has released a weather forecast for this week that runs from February 17 to 23rd, 2026.

In the forecast, the weatherman said rains are expected to continue over Western Kenya, the Central Highlands including Nairobi, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and parts of the South-eastern Lowlands.

In contrast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya are likely to experience generally sunny and dry conditions,” the department said on Monday, February 16, 2026.

During the week, daytime (maximum) temperatures above 30°C are expected in several parts of the country, including the Coast, the South-eastern Lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.

On the other hand, night-time (minimum) temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Last week, the weatherman released the March–April–May (MAM) 2026 long rains seasonal climate outlook.

The outlook indicated that the rains will start in earnest as from the second week of March.

According to the report, several parts of the country are likely to experience near-average to below-average rainfall, with variability in onset, distribution, and intensity.
