Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich on Wednesday led in the distribution of 52 kilograms of pyrethrum seeds and continued registration of farmers in Sambirir, Kapsowar and Kaptarakwa Wards.
The seeds will grow 130 acres of land, directly benefiting more than 500 farmers.
Kentegra Company are contracting Elgeyo Marakwet farmers who have so far sold more than 14 tonnes to the company.

According to Governor Rotich, the company has pledged to increase their seed supply to match the rising demand by farmers.
The next phase will target the remaining Wards.
Speaking at the event, the county boss appreciated residents for heeding to his call to grow at least a quarter of an acre with cash crops saying this will be a sure gateway of getting locals out of poverty.
“Trust me my people, we will never go wrong here. This is one gateway out of poverty,” Rotich said.

He further urged those interested to grow pyrethrum to contact County agriculture officers and Kentegra field officers for registration.
Accompanying the Governor were CECMs led by Edwin Seroney (Agriculture) and his Public Service counterpart Monicah Rotich, Chief Officers among other county staff.
