Uasin Gishu governorship aspirant Willy Kenei has intensified his grassroots campaigns, pledging accountable and inclusive leadership after holding a consultative meeting with over 200 opinion leaders and residents in Kapseret Constituency.
Kenei, who met a delegation drawn from Kapbongo, Chebarus, Kapkakaron and Kapserton villages in Tuiyo, said he used the forum to share his development blueprint while listening to local priorities.
“The message from Kapserton is clear: the people of Uasin Gishu want dignified, accountable and visionary leadership that puts their interests first, creates opportunities and opens space for every resident to thrive,” Kenei said.
He added that the engagement had solidified his bid: “Their voices have strengthened my resolve to provide leadership that listens, delivers and unlocks the full potential of our great county.”
Who is Willy Kenei?
Kenei, who currently serves as Chairman of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Uasin Gishu Chapter and as a Board Director of the Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA), is positioning himself as a business-friendly alternative in a crowded race. He says his agenda will focus on economic transformation, investment, job creation and youth empowerment.
The meeting comes as the 2027 gubernatorial contest begins to take shape. Recent polls place Tourism Principal Secretary Julius Bitok as the early frontrunner with 37.3 percent, ahead of incumbent Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim at 25.9 percent and two-time contender Zedekiah Buzeki at 18.7 percent. Kenei polled at 2.0 percent in the same Politrack Africa survey.
Uasin Gishu, considered a key battleground in Rift Valley politics, is expected to attract significant attention ahead of the 2027 General Election as alliances shift and new entrants like Kenei seek to disrupt the established order.
