33-Year-Old Woman Commits Suicide in Her Father’s Latrine in Simat, Eldoret

Police officers in Kapseret Sub County have launched a probe into an incident in which a woman is suspected to have committed suicide in Koilebel Village, Simat location on the outskirts of Eldoret town.

A police report seen by Uasin Gishu News shows that the woman aged 33, hung herself using a piece of cloth inside a pit latrine.

The incident is said to have happened on Monday, March 21, 2022.

Paul Tarus, a village elder told the police that the body was discovered by her father, hanging lifeless on the roof of his pit latrine.

Tarus reported the matter to the Simat Police Station at 8.00 am on Monday

The deceased hung herself using a piece of cloth inside a pit latrine, and there was no suicide note on the scene,” read part of the police report.

The scene was processed by Scene of Crime Personnel and the body was removed to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary in Eldoret town.

A postmortem is expected to be done on the body to ascertain the real cause of the death.

Investigations into the incident are being done by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives from Kapseret Sub County in Uasin Gishu.
