37 Inmates among Candidates Sitting For KCPE in Uasin Gishu

Eight female inmates are among hundreds of candidates in Uasin Gishu that will be sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.

The examinations begin on Monday, November 28, 2022 and end on Wednesday, November 30,2022.

According to data shared by Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Dr Eddyson Nyale, there are 37 inmates sitting for KCPE this year, 21 of who are serving sentences at the Eldoret GK Prisons.

A further 16 inmates will sit for the class 8 examination at the Ngeria Prisons – all who are men.

The eight, are female inmates at at Eldoret GK Prisons.

In primary schools across Uasin Gishu County, there are a total of 29,472 candidates, a majority of who are in public schools.

Out of the 707 examination centres, there are 23,610 candidates in primary school (12,254 boys and 11,356 girls) compared to 5,862 candidates in private schools (2,847 boys and 3,105 girls).

Aside from KCPE, the Ministry of Education will also be administering the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for the first time.

KPSEA is the final examination for Grade Six learners who are expected to join Junior Secondary Schools in January 2023.

29,0412 grade six learners are sitting for KPSEA exams in Uasin Gishu, 22,302 of who are in public schools and 6,740 in private schools.

11,674 of the KPSEA candidates are boys in public schools and 10,715 are girls.

In private schools, those siting for the final grade six exams are 3,375 boys and 3,393 girls.

There are 848 examination centres across the county for KPSEA exams.
