Academic Institution’s Derby Set For The Weekend: Who Will Blink First?

By James Ahela

Footalball Kenya Federation (FKF) Women Division One side Bungoma Queen’s will on Saturday look to return to the top of the league table as they host Soccer Assasin’s at home.

It is a game dubbed academic institution’s derby as Soccer Assassin’s is a football team for Madira Secondary School in Vihiga County while Bungoma Queens are for the Sang’alo Technical Training Institute.

Bungoma Queen’s who are currently third placed with the highest goal difference in the log will battle for Women Premier League promotion slot in a must-win match to be played at their Sang’alo Technical Training Institute grounds.

Fifth placed Assasin’s are out to prove a point against top teams banking on their current high-scoring form.

Assasin’s head coach Nickson Muleri has said that his side will try to collect maximum points from the technical institution’s team as that is the only way to keep on racing in the promotion battle.

We have communicated to our players the importance of Saturday’s win as we need to keep our focus on the getting to the premier league,” he said.

Speaking exclusively to Uasin Gishu News, Muleri acknowledged that their opponents were equally good having reinforced their squad in mid season’s transfer.

They (Bungoma) have a good team, they had good signings recently who have really impacted in their squad but we are equally up to the task,” he said.

In other Women Division One Zone B matches scheduled for Saturday, Gideon’s Starlets will face Gene Queens at Opanga Primary School while Kolwa Falcons will travel to Nakuru to play Kimathi Lionesses.

On Sunday, Vihiga Leeds will host Eldoret-based Solasa Stima Queens while Gusii Starlets who managed a point in their last week match at home will be travelling to face Rongai eaglets.
