The County Government of Uasin Gishu has intensified preparations to host this year’s Devolution Conference.
As part of the preparations, the county on Tuesday hosted a team from the Council of Governors who were on a visit to check on the progress.
The team was led by Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi who is also the CoG Vice-chairperson.
Addressing the media at the county headquarters in Eldoret town, the Governor said the conference seeks to bring together stakeholders that will discuss the progress of devolution since 2013.

“The conference helps to bring together everyone from all sectors and all levels of government to discuss devolution which is a key aspect of our lives as Kenyans today so as to provide key services to our citizenry,” said the CoG Vice-chairperson.
He noted that they are impressed with the preparations so far.
Work to be done
Eldoret Sports Club has been identified as the venue of the conference that will see all 47 devolved units participate.
There are also a number of activities planned, including sports at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium.
“We have been able to look at the state of preparedness and I am extremely happy with all the preparatory work that the Governor and his team have been able to do,” said the Wajir Governor.
“There are still some woke to be done but we are confident that between now and when the conference opens its door on the 15th August we will have completed everything and we will be ready to have a very successful conference,” he added.

The conference will be in August and themed “10 Years of Devolution, the Present and the Future.”
Govenor Jonathan Bii Chelilim challenged counties to start registration ahead of the conference.
He also asked locals to register and be part of the conference which he said offers a rare opportunity to showcase their agricultural products.
