Dairy Cooperative Societies across Uasin Gishu County have been urged to embrace diversification for them to reap huge benefits from their products.
Speaking on Monday when he visited the Tarakwa Farmers Cooperative Society in Kipsomba Ward, Soy Sub county, Governor Jonathan Bii said product diversification gives farmers huge returns as compared to dealing with one product.
He said his administration is devoted to revamping the dairy sector reiterating the ongoing refurbishment of stalled cattle dips and cooling plants across the county as initiatives that have greatly boosted milk production.

Tarakwa Cooperatives Society collects and preserves over 3,000 litres of milk per day.
“We will work on the ways of expanding the society’s capacity and the capacities of other societies that have shown the potential to enable them to accommodate volumes of milk as witnessed by the increase in productivity,” said Bii.
The county boss also lauded President William Ruto’s move on the standardization of milk prices which he said will help eradicate exploitation of the dairy farmers by middlemen, in the value chain.
County assembly support
Area MCA Hon Mary Goreti noted that a good working relationship between the assembly and the county executive has seen equal distribution of resources across the wards thanking the governor for his commitment to delivering his promise to the people of Uasin Gishu County.
“As the assembly, we will continue supporting you because we know you have good plans for our people,” added Goreti

County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development Martha Cheruto, called on the societies to continuously remain active and incorporate the youth in their entities for continued economic growth.
“As Cooperative societies and residents of this productive county, we need to be the source of all raw materials needed especially now that the county is working on the development of the County Aggregation and Industrial Park,” added Cheruto.
Cheruto also added that her docket is working on the completion and operationalization of markets as well as establishing other new markets across the Wards.
County Executive Committee Members, Dr Sam Kotut ( Water), Dr Abraham Serem(Health) Edward Sawe (Agriculture), Chief Officers Elphas Kesio(Agriculture), Elijah Koech(water) and Eng Abraham Kiptalam(Roads) were among the present.
