Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has finally returned to his constituency since the August 9 general election.
Since he was re-elected, the MP had not stepped foot in the constituency. This was following a murder charge that he was facing, in which the court ordered that he not visit the constituency.
He is accused of killing an aide of his competitor on August 9, 2022.
But following a relaxation of the orders by the court, the vocal legislator finally had an opportunity to visit the Kimilili constituency on October 25, 2022.
He had a heroic reception from hundreds of the locals in Kilimili Town.

“Thank you people of Kimilili for the overwhelming reception you accorded me. I had really missed you,” Barasa posted on his official Facebook page.
Speaking during his reception, the legislator assured locals of his commitment to continue working closely with all elected leaders in the constituency for better service delivery.
He also asked the locals to work with all the elected leaders irrespective of their political affiliation.
“Because you voted for me and we have also formed a government, all the MCAs that you voted for, we will work closely with them to ensure we change the lives of residents in this constituency,” Barasa said.
Development projects
He also pledged to support the ongoing construction of several schools among them Kimilili DEB, and Kimilili RC Girls that are being funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).

Further, the legislator said he will help ensure a better working environment for traders operating within Kimilili Town.
“We will work with all leaders so that we bring better stalls that will enable you to sell your goods in a better environment,” he added.
During the homecoming event, the Kimilili MP was accompanied by Wafula Wakoli, the Bungoma Senatorial aspirant on a Ford Kenya ticket.
Wakoli is among the frontrunners to succeed Moses Wetangula who resigned from the seat to vie for the National Assembly Speaker seat.
The Bungoma Senatorial by-election is set for December 8, 2022.
