Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has commended the work being done by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, in the fight against transnational organised crimes in the country and across the region.
In particular, the Deputy President singled out the Anti-Narcotics Unit which has in recent days stepped up its efforts in the fight against drugs trafficking, by conducting swoops that have led to the seizure of consignments of drugs and the arrest of prime suspects.
While commending the officers for a job well done, DP Gachagua pledged his commitment towards supporting the Directorate in the fight against drugs, which he said had ruined the lives of many youths in the country.
“I am very impressed by the work that you are doing and I will be paying a visit to the Directorate to explore ways in which the Government can further support the Anti-Narcotics Unit, to cascade the war to all parts of the country, especially in rural areas, where drugs and substance abuse is also rampant,” said the deputy president.
He spoke on Thursday, when he visited the police stand at the ongoing Mombasa International Show.
The Deputy President who was the Chief Guest in this year’s Mombasa trade fair was taken around various stands representing different units in the DCI and our sister services the Kenya Police and Administration Police Services.
