The sixth edition of the Eldoret City Marathon has finally been unveiled.
Launch for the race billed as the highest paying marathon in Africa was held at Rupa’s Mall in Eldoret City on Friday, March 7, 2025.
The event was graced by among others Uasin Gishu Sports County Executive Committee Member Eng Lucy Ng’endo and Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) board chairman Caleb Kositany.
Last year’s winners Emily Jepkemoi and Victor Kipchirchir were also present
When will Eldoret City marathon 6th edition be held?
Speaking during the launch, race founder and director Moses Tanui announced that the 6th edition of the Eldoret City marathon will be held on April 27, 2025.

“Eldoret City Marathon will be signing an MOU of partnership with the Great Ethiopian Run on April 26, 2025, on the eve of this year’s edition, which will be held on April 27, 2025,” Tanui announced.
“The prize money remains unchanged,” he added.
What’s Eldoret City Marathon prize money?
The total prize money for Eldoret City Marathon in the last five editions has been Ksh 18 million.
While winners bag Ksh 3.5 million in both women races, athletes who finish up to the 20th position go home with cash awards.
This is the only marathon in Africa that awards all athletes who finish in top 20.
Is registration open for Eldoret City Marathon
Online registration will be open from Saturday, March 8, 2015 at www.eldoretcitymarathon.co.ke.
However, race organisers said ” physical registration points will be communicated in due course”.
