National and regional stakeholders in the Agriculture sector have cited enhanced road infrastructure development projects by the county government of Uasin Gishu as a key factor that has significantly boosted agriculture by improving market access, reducing transportation costs, promoting economic growth and diversification and facilitating efficient delivery of agricultural inputs across the county.
On Friday, while touring the Roads, Transport and Public Works stand at the Eldoret National ASK show, the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of the State Department of Agriculture, Dr Kiprono Ronoh, commended the administration for its deliberate decision to focus on improving the road infrastructure, especially in rural areas to enhance mobility.
Governor Dr Jonathan Bii, while thanking the team from the department, emphasized the commitment he has in ensuring that priority projects, as requested by the residents of the county, are prioritized and implemented fully.

“We want to ensure we have a good road network in all parts of the county to allow our farmers to transport their produce to markets more efficiently. This initiative will help all of them get better prices and increase their income,” Bii said.
“My administration has been keen to maintain roads to the ward level. The growth of our economy is dependent on reliable infrastructure to connect supply chains and efficiently move goods and services from one point to another,” he added.
The county boss also appreciated the fire and rescue team for their swift response to fire outbreaks and other emergencies as he explained the key role the Department of Roads has played that continues to ultimately impact rural livelihoods and economic growth.

Chief Officer for Public Service Management Ruth Samoei expressed the need for the fire and rescue team to have a continuous awareness program for the residents of Uasin on how to prevent fire outbreaks.
“I want to challenge you to initiate an awareness program on the importance of prevention of fire outbreaks and other emergencies targeting schools, public meetings and other institutions regularly so that we can help reduce losses and help our people to have necessary knowledge on what to do when such incidents occur,” she explained.
