Concerns have been raised over a high number of government documents that have not yet been collected at the Eldoret Huduma Centre.
The centre that serves Uasin Gishu County has reported an increase of the uncolleted documents among them national identity cards (IDs) and Driving Licences.
Reuben Ogeda, the Eldoret Huduma Centre manager says at least 6,000 driving licences and 4,000 IDs have not been collected.
“People come to apply for these documents but when delivered they don’t come to collect,” Ogeda said.
“Currently we have 6,930 Driving Licences that have not been collected and 4,718 IDs. We also have 58 birth certificates that have not been picked,” he added.
According to the Eldoret Huduma Centre manager, the high number of the driving licences still to be picked remains a puzzle to them.

But on the duplicate IDs, he says it might be due to the fact that they serve Kenyans from the North Rift region ajd beyond, with Eldoret being q transit town.
“We usually send messages to the customers once their documents are ready. But we understand the issue of IDs one might apply for a duplicate and later find the lost one or the message fiids they far from Eldoret sjd they can’t afford travel costs,” he added.
Ogeda however asked those that have apllied for any of the government documents to pick them once notified that they are ready
He also noted that the government her enhanced service delivery and turnaround time for profeesing of various documents.
Huduma Centre is a one-stop-shop that offers a majority of government services under one roof.
Each of the 47 devolved units have a Huduma Centre. There are however plans to decerentralise the centre to each of the 290 constituencies.
The government recently set up a desk that will allow Kenyans access various Judiciary services.
