A 40-year-old man has filed a case before an Eldoret court seeking compensation for unfair dismissal from work.
The man, Rajab Masika Waliaula, claims that he worked as a general cleaner at Shell Petrol Station in Eldoret town along Uganda road for three years before he was dismissed.
Court documents filed before the Eldoret Law Courts indicate that the man accuses his employer Paul Kibichi Biego of failing to follow due process when dismissing him.
He also notes that he was not paid his overtime allowances amounting to Ksh3.6 million.
Biego is the Director at Entertainer Trucks Company Limited, and also a politician who recently won the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket for Chesumei Member of Parliament seat in Nandi County.
“I have six children who I am unable to take care of now. He (Paul Biego) did not notify me about my dismissal from the workplace after having served him diligently for three years,” Waliaula told Uasin Gishu News on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.
With the case now before the court, he is hoping that he will get justice and enable him to carry on with his life.
“I am the sole breadwinner for my family. I have no resources to hire a lawyer but through self-representation, I am hoping to find justice in the courts expeditiously. I do not understand why such a leader who claims to fight for the rights of hustlers would violate my own rights as a hustler,” Waliaula noted.
Efforts to reach Paul Biego for a comment over the matter were in vain. Our calls went unanswered as well as messages.
The matter has been scheduled for mention on June 16, 2022, at the Eldoret Courts.
