The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) men and women soccer teams are now eyeing national glory after staging a thrilling performance in the North Rift regional Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutes (KATTI) games in Emining.

Men’s football team head coach Collins Tuwei and women’s side Angela Vwamula are working with their players in readiness for the national competitions, which will be held in Mombasa County from 29 October to 2 November 2025.

TENP men’s football team won the regional games, edging hosts Emining Technical Training Institute 1-0 in the final played under scorching sun on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier, Kitale National Polytechnic had beaten the TENP women’s side 1-0 to continue their dominance in the North Rift region. In 2024, Kitale beat TENP with the same score in the semifinals in Eldoret.

This year’s men’s football competitions attracted 22 technical training institute teams and 16 teams for women’s football.

Who did TENP play against in the KATTI regional games

Pooled in group F against giants RVTTI and Kitale National Polytechnic, Tuwei said he is delighted to have faced tough matches in the early stages of the competition.

Tough matches build strong teams, resilience and good performance. Facing our opponents in the pool made us put more effort, which has paid off,” he said.

TENP men’s football team beat RVTTI 2-0 after a 1-1 draw against Kitale polytechnic in the pool matches.

They then beat Kiminini 1-0 in the quarters before knocking out Kipsoen National Polytechnic by a similar score to book a final slot.

In women’s football, TENP opened their regional competitions with a 5-0 win against hosts Emining before going down 1-0 to Baringo National Polytechnic. They bounced back with a 4-0 win against Endebes TTI.

The girls worked hard in the matches, we faced good sides who were well prepared as well and paused,” she said.

The playing unit is delighted to have made it to the national stage, and in the coming days, we are going to prepare well for the national title,” she added.
