Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction and refurbishment Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret.
Mwangi who visited the stadium to access ongoing works expressed optimism that it will be completed within the set timeframe.
“I am satisfied with the progress of the ongoing works with the contractor under strict instruction to deliver the project within the defined timeframe,” the PS said.

He also noted that the Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret is one of Kenya’s most critical sporting facilities that supercharges the growth and development of sporting talent in the region and beyond.

The major upgrades will see the facility transformed into a modern 15,000-seater stadium; fully kitted with a standard modern football pitch, an eight-lane running track with tartan, VIP pavilion, parking zones, changing rooms as well as modern holding rooms.
“This stadium promises to redefine sports development in the region,” PS Mwangi said.

“Eldoret is a hotbed of athletics’ talents. The location of this stadium makes it an apt venue for intense and endurance training for both local and international athletes,” he added.
Additionally, the PS noted that the size, strategic location and quality of the ongoing upgrades will make Kipchoge Keino Stadium one of the targeted stadium that meets international standards to play a critical role in Kenya’s readiness for AFCON 2027.
