Eldowas Announces 60-Hour Water Shutdown in Eldoret for Chebara Plant Maintenance

Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company Limited, ELDOWAS, will temporarily cut water supply to large parts of Eldoret for 60 hours starting next Tuesday to allow essential maintenance at the Chebara Water Treatment Plant.

In a public notice, ELDOWAS said the interruption will begin on Tuesday, 16th June 2026, at 9:00 a.m. and continue until Thursday, 18th June 2026, at 9:00 p.m.

The shutdown is to facilitate routine maintenance of the plant.

Which Eldoret estates will be affected by ELDOWAS maintenance

Areas to be affected include Kimumu, University of Eldoret, Marakwet Farm, Kapchumba, upper Mailinne, Munyaka, Kapsoya, Action Estates, Rift Valley Bottlers, Bio-Corn, Upper Elgon View, Eldoret Polytechnic, Annex, Langas, Racecourse, Kapseret, Chepkanga, Marura, Kamukunji, Mwanzo, Old Uganda Road, and all customers along the Chebara-Eldoret Pipeline.

The company noted that water bowser services will also be unavailable during the period.

However, “the other water treatment plants will remain operational to ensure the continuity of water supply to unaffected areas.”

ELDOWAS apologized for the inconvenience and urged residents in the affected zones to store water in advance. For inquiries, the company said, customers can contact the toll-free line 0800-211-155 or mobile +254 724 255 538.
