A majority of locals within several estates in Eldoret town will be without water for the next three days.
This is after the Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (Eldowas) announced an interruption of water supply to over 10 estates.
In a statement on Friday, March 28, 2025, the company said the estates will be without water until Monday, March 31, 2025.
“This is to inform you that there is a temporary Interruption in water supply from Chebara Water Treatment Plant,” Eldowas said in the statement.
“This Interruption will continue until Monday, Monday 31st March 2025 at 9.00 pm,” it added.
Why there’s interruption of water supply in Eldoret
According to Eldowas, the interruption is to facilitate essential routine maintenance and flushing necessitated by increased sediment deposits in the main trunk line along Chebara main distribution line.
The announcement came on a day there was widespread concerns over the quality of water following discoloration.
Many Eldowas customers had taken to social media to share there frustration over the situation.
Which Eldoret estates will face water supply interruption?
Eldowas listed over 10 estates in Eldoret which will be affected by the disruption.
The areas listed are:
- Kimumu and University of Eldoret
- Market Farm, Kapchumba, and Upper parts of Maili Nne
- Munyaka, Kapsoya, Action Estate
- Rift Valley Bottlers and Bio-Com
- Upper Elgon View, Eldoret Polytechnic, Langas and Annex
- Racecourse and Kapseret
- Chepkanga and Marura
- Kamukunji, Mwanzo and Old Uganda Road
- Kapsoya, Annex and some parts of Kapsoya
All the customers along the Chebara-Eldoret Pipeline and areas near the listed regions will also be affected.
“During this period, the water bowser services will also be unavailable,” Eldowas said.
However, the company said other water treatment plants will remain operational to ensure the continuity of water supply to unaffected areas.
There has been questions over the quality of Eldowas water for the last few months with a section of locals complaining of running stomach.
