Oscar Sudi Launches Fresh Attack on Gacahagua Ahead of Ruto’s Mount Kenya Tour

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has sounded a warning to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ahead of President William Ruto’s tour of the Mount Kenya region.

Sudi, who spoke during a development tour of his constituency on Friday, March 28, 2025, insisted that the region has every right to benefit from the Kenya Kwanza administration despite his impeachment.

The vocal legislator pointed out that the current administration was formed largely because of the support of the vote-rich region.

We will be there next week, and we want to warn Wamunyoro (Gachagua) that Mount Kenya deserves to benefit from this government,” the legislator said.

There have been fears that Gachagua allies might attempt to disrupt the tour, which will be the first one for Ruto since the successful impeachment.

But according to Sudi, the president’s visit is part of his effort to ensure every region gets a fair share of the development.

Is Mount Kenya with Ruto or Gachagua?

Political pundits argue that Ruto’s support base in the region has largely declined, and it is the reason he went to seal a deal with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The Mount Kenya people helped us to form this government, and even though we are in a broad-based government, they have every right to continue enjoying that benefit,” Sudi said.

Ruto will tour the Mount Kenya region amid growing discontent from political leaders in the region who feel sidelined.

Most of Gachagua’s perceived allies were recently replaced by Raila loyalists in a number of influential parliamentary committees, including the Budget Committee that was being chaired by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.

The visit also comes days after the president sacked Justin Muturi as the Public Service Cabinet Secretary – a position which was handed to Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku.
